A Near-Holiday Birthday

... that led to a holiday face at a birthday party.

This young man wanted to be a deer today, and was happy to roll with it when I suggested Rudolph and a red shiny nose.  I love kids who are up for some change.

That may or may not have spurred this request for a gingerbread man.

Cute, but likely not as tasty as the gingerbread animals and ornaments I baked for Christmas dinner.  Those were yum.

The birthday wasn't holiday themed, though, it was Mickey Mouse themed.  And mom & dad were really into it.  They were so fun!

A full-face Mickey is not easy.  I gave him a bow tie for a little color.

Of course, there were the standards... tigers, Elsa, a puppy (he was only one!), and a slightly out-of-season vampire.

 

Event the small art at this one was fun.  Seriously.  I'm usually not a huge fan of the small stuff, but when I can do a Minnie (so glad I had a little practice from doing the drawing for my friend!) and a whale and fun stuff like that, I love it.

One of my favorite people, though, at this party, is counterintuitive for me as a Giants fan.  Granted, they didn't play well this season & they're not in the playoffs, but still... a Green Bay Packers fan?  Sigh.  He was cool, though, and I had a good time painting him and talking to him.

Especially since he was going out after to watch the game.  Pretty cool!

Not a Typical Start to the Week

This past Monday, I took a day off from my day job... to face paint!  It was one of the best days ever.  Three other face painters and I went to a beautiful Tudor-style house in Shrewsbury, NJ, owned by an employee of ColArt, the art supply company.  ColArt owns United States distribution of Snazaroo, a well-known face paint made in the UK.

They're looking to increase their marketing of Snazaroo, especially in social media, so they hired us to spend the whole day in the gorgeous backyard on a beautiful day, painting a bunch of very photogenic and well-mannered kids over and over in different faces for their pro photographer and videographer.  It was a blast!  At the end of the day, in addition to all the photos taken of my work, I also got to face paint a video tutorial... and get painted in one too!

ColArt has asked that we not share our work until they've got the official photos out and about, so although I took photos I cannot yet post them here.  I will in the future, though, so you'll have to keep checking!

Meanwhile, the next morning I got an email for a last minute party that same evening.  A young lady was turning four, and her mom suddenly thought it'd be fun to have a face painter.  She was right!

And my favorite... a woman who just wanted me to do something pretty and let me do what I wanted!

She was so happy!

Blast from the Past

 Back in August of 2013, I painted and did temporary tattoos for this fun bunch at a birthday.

Tigers Were Hot

I face painted at a dual birthday party on Saturday - a 7-year-old boy and his 5-year-old sister had a joint party for their respective birthdays, and their parents pulled out all the stops.  There were ponies to ride, a huge bounce house to play in, a video game truck, and me, plus silly string and other fun stuff.

As usual, there were a couple of really popular faces.  One was zombies, of which I took no photos.  The other?  Tigers.  So I had some fun with them...

I've also updated my standard butterfly, which is still in a metamorphosis stage (Ha!  Get it?  Butterfly... metamorphosis?)

And for probably the second or third time in my life... a peacock request.  I do love a challenge.

 And then, a one-off, a princess.  This young lady was very happy to see me, as I'd painted at her Wizard of Oz party in March!  She's such a sweetheart.

What a great party on a great day!
